The Disaster Management Act, 2005 (DM Act 2005)
lays down institutional and coordination mechanism for effective Disaster
Management (DM) at the national, state, district and local levels. As mandated
by this Act, the Government of India (GoI) created a multi-tiered institutional
system consisting of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) headed
by the Prime Minister, the State Disaster Management Authorities (SDMAs) headed
by the respective Chief Ministers and the District Disaster Management Authorities
(DDMAs) headed by the District Collectors and co-chaired by Chairpersons of the
local bodies.
The National Disaster Management Plan (NDMP)
provides a framework and direction to the government agencies for all phases of
disaster management cycle. The NDMP is a “dynamic document” in the sense that
it will be periodically improved keeping up with the emerging global best
practices and knowledge base in disaster management.
India needs a substantial number of experts on Disaster Management. This course prepares youth for Disaster Management. Modules in the course include:
Introduction to Disaster Management, Hazard Risk and Vulnerability, Preparedness and Response, Types of Disasters like; Tsunami, Earthquake, Landslides, Floods & Cyclones; Recovery and Building Back Better, Details on National Disaster Management Authority and First-Aid.
Time Duration Investment: Approximately 300 Hours.
Certification: Can be generated Online upon successful completion of the Course
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:12th Pass (Graduates are Preferred).
Minimum Age: 18 Years.
Benefits: At the End of the Course, The Candidate will be given the opportunity to appear for an interview and get a Placement Opportunity to work with the industry involved in Disaster Management. The Interview offering can be for Placement anywhere in India.
